C.S. Lewis in Oxford

A Guide for Visitors

Can we get an internal viewing of the Kilns?

Yes and No!

If you mean gain entry for an internal viewing of the ‘Kilns’ then I say don’t hold your breath, but if you mean view from 10 feet away then no problem, as the property is easily accessed from the public highway from where you can also take your photographs. The lake and woodlands (‘Narnia’) are also within easy access to the rear of the former home, a public place and nothing to do with the former home. This particular area today is known as the C S Lewis Nature Reserve and is always accessible, albeit sometimes muddy!

Other than in my paperback guidebook there are no specific directions on how to find and visit the ‘Kilns’ that I know of, but now that my ebook ‘C S Lewis in Oxford: A Guide for Visitors’ has been published (10th July 2013) details are contained within.

My new ebook provides all relevant contact details for visiting the ‘Kilns’ and is available from Amazon at the following: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DVRJM58

You can also now see a plaque that has been fixed to the gable end of the former home, the ‘Kilns’ to show visitors where C S Lewis once lived assuming the deliberately planted and strategically placed Vine hasn’t covered it up!

Please note:

My original paperback titled ‘A Guide to the C. S. Lewis Tour in Oxford’ that emulates the former C S Lewis Tour in Oxford is no longer available due to an edit and reprint by US Book Company Greenbrier Books. The book virtually allows you to visit the Kilns from your armchair and was previously available from www.amazon.com as well as bookstores, in particular Flaggs Gift Shop 18 Broad Street, Oxford (I have no idea how long stocks will last at Amazon or any other store) but please remember that it is being updated and has already been superseded by my ebook as referred to above, thus allowing visitors today, to follow in the footsteps of this great man from their mobile devices in real time.

BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATION securely online at: http://www.PicturesOfEngland.com/accommodation to help me keep the name of a truly great man alive!
